Download TDS NovaTuff C-300 Caulking Compound

Description:

NovaTuff C-300 is a polyamide, two-component epoxy caulk base sealant.  This compound chemically cures into an elastic and flexible body which will not dry out or harden after curing.  It does not oxidize or absorb moisture.

Application Areas:

NovaTuff C-300 is an interior or exterior water tight joint sealant for curtain walls, prefab panels, roofs, flashing, coping, and air ducts.  It can also be used between similar and dissimilar materials, vertical, and/or horizontal joint work. In extreme cases NovaTuff C-300 can also be applied on to wet surfaces and if necessary can cure underwater.

Features:

NovaTuff C-300 has excellent adhesion to all types of metal, concrete, asphalt, and wood.  NovaTuff C-300 is non-staining on masonry surfaces, and no primer is required.  This product is also very resilient at low temperatures, and has been tested in boiling water for up to 4 hours.  NovaTuff C-300 can also be painted over.

Resistance:

NovaTuff C-300 is unaffected by jet fuel, gasoline, oil, water, caustics, most acids, oil derivatives, and hydrocarbons.  For unusual exposures, consult your NovaTuff representative.

Preparation:

Joint surfaces should be free from all grease, oil, dirt, and other contaminants.  Remove all scaling paint, loose or heavy chalk, or other contaminants.  Concrete expansion joints should have each side mechanically abraded for optimal adhesion.  This can be accomplished with a masonry or diamond blade mounted on a circular saw or grinder. These preparation procedures are general guidelines. Detailed preparation methods are available through SSPC at www.sspc.org or 412-281-2331 or NACE at www.nace.org or 281-228-6200.

Mixing:

The mixing of Part A and B is very important!  NovaTuff C-300 has a mixing ratio of 4 parts “B” to 1 part “A” (4:1).  Use a power drill and mixing paddle to thoroughly combine both parts.  Mix for at least one minute per gallon.  Allow idle activation time for a minimum of 10 minutes. Note: Partial mixtures will not work.  All parts (Part A & B) must be used and mixed as supplied.

Applications:

NovaTuff C-300 can be applied using; a paint brush, bulk load gun, or a putty knife.  Material can be finished with wet hands (use solvent resistant gloves) or tools. Apply only when air temperature is 37° F and rising with no forecasted freeze or snow for a minimum of 48 hours.    Clean Up:

Application equipment should be cleaned immediately with Lacquer Thinner.  Use White Cider Vinegar to clean hands and skin.  Do not allow NovaTuff to remain on tools!  Once it sets and is cured, it is difficult to remove.
