Description:

NovaTuff PC-425 is tough and flexible protective coating for concrete, metal, other surfaces. NovaTuff PC-425 is a high-solids polyamide-epoxy resin used in applications where chemical and corrosion resistance is required.

Resistance:

NovaTuff PC-425 is resistant to acids, solvents, caustics, and hydrocarbons. It was developed to withstand corrosive and abrasive conditions in a variety of applications.

Application Areas:

NovaTuff PC-425 is excellent as an anti-corrosive and protective coating for fountains, tanks, pipelines, cooling towers, vats, floors, and steel or concrete structures. NovaTuff PC-425 retains a resilient body, even after final cure. It can even be used under constant spillage, immersion conditions, or highly abrasive applications.

Preparation:

Surfaces should be free of mill scale, oil, paint, films, grease, soluble salts, and other contaminants.  Sand blasting to white metal is necessary in some cases.  Latinate and other loosely bound materials should be removed to provide a solid bonding surface.

Concrete should be etched to provide a profile for optimal adhesion. Latinate and other loosely bound materials should be removed to provide a solid bonding surface.  The preparation procedures above are general guidelines. The preparation procedures above are general guidelines. Detailed preparation methods are available through SSPC at www.sspc.org or 412-281-2331 or NACE at www.nace.org or 281-228-6200.

Mixing:

The mixing of parts A & B is very important!  NovaTuff PC-425 has a (1:1) mixing ratio of 1 parts “B” to 1 part “A”. Agitate Part B separately before combining the two parts. Pour a measured amount of Part B into a clean container large enough to hold both components. Add an equal volume of Part A to Part B then continue agitation until the two components are thoroughly mixed for at least one minute per gallon. Allow idle activation for at least 10 minutes.

Thinner:

If necessary thin with Xylene for airless spray applications, thin no more than 1/2 pint per gallon.  Do not add thinner until after activation is completed.  Note: Thinning retards cure time and increases possibility of sag.

Application:

Brush, 3/8″ nap roller cover, or airless spray equipment may be used to apply NovaTuff PC-425.  Surface configuration, weather, or area surroundings will dictate application method.

DRY FILM APPLICATION:

To get dry film of Apply Sq. Ft. Per Gallon
6.5 mils 200 Sq. Ft.
13 mils 100 Sq. Ft.

DO NOT apply product heavier than 16 wet mils per coat. For a heavier dry film, apply necessary number of coats.

General:

NovaTuff PC-425 should be applied in well-ventilated areas.  Surfaces should be free of foreign matter.  DO NOT apply product near an open flame.

Clean Up:

Application equipment should be cleaned immediately with Lacquer Thinner.  Use White Vinegar to clean hands and skin.  Do not allow NovaTuff PC-425 to remain on tools!  Once it sets and is cured, it is difficult to remove.
